The Mission Committee is taking part in a new mission called Sleep in Heavenly Peace as a service project during the Synod Convention on April 23. Trinity will be partnering with Immanuel Lutheran.
Sleep in Heavenly Peace, or SHP, builds twin beds for children ages 3-17 who do not have a bed. This is a nationwide group, and Sioux City has a new chapter. We will do the actual “build” at United Lutheran (previously Immanuel). During the month of February both churches will be asking for donations to fund the beds. It takes $250 per bed. We must be able to fund a minimum of ten beds in order to hold a “build.” The Dible fund has already given $344, and the Christmas Goodie Extravaganza sales graciously donated $500, so we have a good start. Please make checks out to “Trinity Lutheran Church” and write “SHP” on the memo line.
We also have our Project Day quilting group making quilts. Donations of pillows and twin sheets will also be needed. This is a wonderful project that we are excited to participate in. We hope you will join us!
