PREPARATION

Prelude
Brief Order for Confession and Forgiveness
L: As we prepare to worship God, let us confess our sin and our trust in God’s forgiveness.

Kyrie Eleison vs 1 & Chorus

L: In the name of the Father and of the + Son and of the Holy Spirit
A: Amen
L: Almighty God, to whom all hearts are open, all desires known, and from whom no secrets are hid: Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love you and worthily magnify your holy name, through Jesus Christ our Lord.
A: Amen
L: If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. But if we confess our sins, God who is faithful and just will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Silence for reflection and self-examination.
Kyrie Eleison vs 2

Most merciful God,
A: we confess that we are captive to sin and cannot free ourselves. We have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. For the sake of your Son, Jesus Christ, have mercy on us. Forgive us, renew us, and lead us, so that we may delight in your will and walk in your ways, to the glory of your holy name. Amen
L: Almighty God, in his mercy, has given his Son to die for us and, for his sake, forgives us all our sins. As a called and ordained minister of the Church of Christ, and by his authority, I therefore declare to you the entire forgiveness of all your sins, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
A: Amen

Kyrie Eleison Chorus

Psalm 70 (read responsively)

3 Let those who say to me “Aha!” and gloat over me turn back because of their shame.
4 Let all who seek you rejoice and be glad in you; let those who love your salvation say forever, “Great is the LORD!”
5 But as for me, I am poor and needy; come to me quickly, O God. You are my helper and my deliverer; O LORD, do not tarry.

Sermon

Hymn of the Day #436 – Wake, Awake, for Night is Flying

Prayers:
L: Longing for Christ’s reign to come among us, we pray for the outpouring of God’s power on the church, the world, and all in need.
L: Holy God, rouse us to deep praise as we gather for worship. Enliven our worship with sincere and heart-felt song. Sustain the work of all church musicians and artists who lead us in praise and prayer.
Lord, in your mercy, Hear our prayer.
L: Holy Judge, let justice roll down like waters over this world. Reign over the courtrooms both locally and nationally. Have police enforce the law with fairness and mercy. Save those who have been wrongly accused and wrongly condemned.
Lord, in your mercy, Hear our prayer.
L: Holy Companion, console those who feel lonely or abandoned. We pray especially for people who live and eat alone and for those who are isolated because of COVID-19.
Lord, in your mercy, Hear our prayer.
L: Lord, we pray for those among us who are sick or injured, especially for Skip Meisner, Barb Curry, Doug Walker, Jim Mandicino, and Jim Sorvaag’s sister, Karen, as they face the ordeals of cancer. We also pray for John Berg, Terry Church’s sister, Mary, and Bob & Joyce VanWaart’s son, Patrick, as they continue to face health issues, and Mickey Benjamin’s mother, Mary, who is on hospice, and Harold Stump, who is recovering from broken ribs from a fall.
Lord in your mercy, Hear our prayer.
L: We pray for those who grieve death and loss. We pray especially for the family of Ken Cain, as they live with his death. Comfort your people and give them peace.
Lord, in your mercy, Hear our prayer.
L: Holy Protector, be with all observing Veterans Day. Guard the lives of active duty and retired military personnel. Comfort all who mourn those who have died in the line of duty. Heal the wounds, both physical and mental, experienced by service members.
Lord, in your mercy. Hear our prayer.
L: All these things and whatever else you see that we need, we entrust to your mercy, through Jesus Christ our Lord. A: Amen.

MEAL

Great Thanksgiving
L: The Lord be with you.
A: And also with you.
L: Lift up your hearts.
A: We lift them to the Lord.
L: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
A: It is right to give him thanks and praise.
L: It is indeed right, our duty and our joy, that we should at all times and in all places give thanks and praise to you, almighty and merciful God, through our Savior Jesus Christ; who on this day overcame death and the grave, and by his glorious resurrection opened to us the way of everlasting life. And so, with all the choirs of angels, with the church on earth and the hosts of heaven, we praise your name and join their unending hymn:
A: Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the Lord.
L: In the night in which he was betrayed, our Lord Jesus took bread, and gave thanks; broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying: Take and eat: this is my body, given for you. Do this for the remembrance of me.
Again, after supper, he took the cup, gave thanks, and gave it for all to drink, saying: This cup is the new covenant in my blood, shed for you and for all people for the forgiveness of sin. Do this for the remembrance of me.

Lord’s Prayer
L: Come to the banquet, for all is now ready.
Table Blessing:
L: The body and blood of our Lord Jesus strengthen you and keep you in his grace.
